Hello friends!
Book News:
Free From Falling (Breakaway book 4) is with my editor. We are still hoping for an end-of-2024 release date. I am also working on a new project (entirely separate from the Breakaway series) that I can’t talk about yet, but I am VERY excited.
Fic News:
Now that work/life/author things have calmed down a bit, I’ll be finishing my Stranger Things fic within the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience if you’ve been waiting!
Home renovations:
You know those people that buy gorgeous old Victorian homes with tons of charm and then gut them and turn them into sad beige versions of their former glory? I’m like whatever the opposite of that is. B and I agreed we would invest in a new property for peace of mind re structural soundness, and I could create as much whimsy as I desired with my blank new-build slate. So I’ve been working on that!
Lets start with the master bathroom. As you can see, it was a bit boring before.
And now it’s not!
Paint is @behrpaint Urban Raincoat and wallpaper is Country Dogs Toile from @spoonflower. Thanks to sales and thrift store scores (those mirrors!) this whole project cost less than $270, and I’m quite pleased with myself.
I also tackled the master bedroom. It’s small, and we needed to fit our king bed in it, but didn’t want it against the windows. The only wall without windows (or a door to the bathroom) was too tight for nightstands, so I got creative. I made a statement wall with cedar wood and installed wall lights, then found a king storage bed so we could use the drawers on either side for storage of nightstand-y things. And, of course, we painted the walls (Vert de Terre) green courtesy of Farrow and Ball.
We are very happy with our cozy green room (and still on the lookout for a secondhand rug + throw blanket to complete things).
Please enjoy these in-progress pics of both projects as well:
Life updates:
I made gluten free cinnamon rolls with my new favorite recipe, which can be found here.
We enjoyed a snowstorm:
And as I begin working on our biggest renovation project, the library (!!!), I’ve started stopping into Goodwill to begin re-building my library (that sob story shall be included in a future update). Deacon also continues to be the goodest boy, and loves that we now live close to one of his best dog friends, who comes to visit often.
Book Recs:
I’ve essentially read everything that @alihazelwood and Kacen Callender have written over the last three months and I’m a big fan of both authors. I’ve also enjoyed If You’ll Have Me by @eunnieboo, and The Hate You Give + On the Come up by @angiethomas. I finally broke down and started the ACOTAR series by @sarahjmass and while I was a little eh about the first one, I pushed through and the second one took me out at the knees. I’m currently reading the third and very much enjoying myself.
Donation stuff:
My monthly LRPD royalty donations are temporarily being routed to Doctors Without Borders and the Gaza Sunbirds rather than LGBTQ charities. You can read more about the work both orgs are doing in Gaza on their social media accounts (linked above). Please consider donating if you have the capability to do so.
Okay, that’s all for now. See you (hopefully, I’m a work in progress) next month. Love y’all!
I read If You’ll Have Me by Eunnie last month and it healed me from the terrors of the world for a short but pleasant while 🌻
