Happy Pride everyone!
I painted the back of my vest for the occasion.
Book News:
All Hail the Underdogs has been moved up in the publication queue (hooray!), meaning that it will now come out at the end of this year instead of the beginning of 2024. Very excited about this development. It’s with the copyeditors now, and ARCs are forthcoming!
Fic news:
Stranger Things still has me by the throat, so if you want to come along on my new time travel fix-it fic journey, the more the merrier.
Pride:
We hit up pride night at Austin Bouldering Project. I’d never thought to combine drag and rock climbing before but I’m a big fan and I think this should happen more than once a year. 10/10.
I also met up with several friends in Dallas for pride events there including, of course, S4 and GayBingo at the Rose Room.
I won a round of bingo, which was a first, and it was so good to see folks that I hadn’t had face-to-face time with since pre-Covid. It was also very weird to be in a room full of so many unmasked people and not wear one myself. I’m typically still wearing masks indoors because my immune system + lungs are both so shit, but my crew was all vaxed and we got through the weekend unscathed. 10/10.
Finally, I hit up the pride market put on by The Little Gay Shop here in Austin where I showed enormous restraint and only bought two pins. 10/10.
Book Recs:
This month I only read/reread queer books. I didn’t get through as many as I would have liked, but here they are:
Cemetery Boys is a new favorite, along with Legends and Lattes. See my Goodreads for actual reviews on…80% of these. Some day I’ll update all the things I need to update.
And that’s it for now!
I’m also going to make a separate post in just a bit with DIY wedding dress updates so I can tell B to disregard any forthcoming notifications and you can choose to ignore it if that’s not your jam. It’s still a secret from him at the moment, though I’m not sure how we’re going to keep that up when packing for/hiking to our elopement site (elopement is now less than 2 months away!!).
Ok folks, love you, stay hydrated. See you later!
So excited for AHtU!!
Oh my god your vest 😍
I recently read Cemetery Boys, and I'm absolutely in love. The audiobook, narrated by Avi Roque (transmasc enby and voice actor for Raine Whispers), is a heartbreakingly beautiful work of art.
P.S. I have no clue about the etiquette of this platform, so please let me know if comments from an Internet Stranger™️ are weird 😬
