Captain's Log. Stardate 100750.5
Hello Friends! Book News first:
Like You’ve Nothing Left to Prove* will be out in just a few short weeks on March 14th!
*If you’re wondering if they switched clothes from the first book cover, so Eli is wearing Alex’s Jersey and Alex is wearing Eli’s hoody, the answer is yes. It’s cute as hell.
You can preorder a digital copy from my publisher NineStar Press if you want your download 4 days early on the 10th. Or, you can preorder on Amazon/at your retailer of choice. Print copies aren’t available for preorder yet but should be in another day or so. I’ll also be doing signed print copies again, but I’m going to limit it to 50 this time. I signed/had Deacon sign over 100 copies of LRPD, boxed them up and shipped them out and it was…a lot. With wedding planning and a new promotion+added responsibilities at my IRL job, I just won’t have that kind of time with this one. Sorry! I’ll post on IG and Tumblr once I know when my author copies will arrive and I’ll start first-come-first-served list of signed books for folks. :)
Donation News:
This month’s royalty donation will go to Magic City Acceptance Center (as suggested by Anne Lofton, Thanks Anne!) It seems fitting since I started writing LRPD in Alabama (and Eli is from Alabama, of course). Magic City Acceptance Center’s goal is to “create a brave and radically inclusive space for the LGBTQ community in Alabama through outreach, training, consultation, and direct services.” Feel free to join me in donating to their cause and let me know if there’s a program you think I should consider for future royalty donations!
Life News:
I already mentioned I got a promotion at my full-time job which is super cool. I’m coming up on my one-year anniversary of leaving academia and making the very scary move to the tech world and I’m so damn happy I did. I love my peers, my boss, my work, and the freedom I have working remotely. B ALSO got a promotion at the beginning of the year, so we’re just power coupling it up over here. And Deacon is fully embracing the DINKWAD lifestyle (Double Income No Kids With A Dog).
Also, we started experimenting to add some recipes to our standard weekly dinner fare and I’m a big fan of sushi bakes. 10/10 do recommend you throw some seaweed, rice, chives, and soy sauce marinated salmon in the oven and top with avocado, red cabbage, and siracha mayo.
Travel News:
We had a blast at Red Rocks and Valley of Fire National Parks. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The author in her natural habitat (hiding from predators):
Did you know that Adidas hightops are nearly as good as the hiking boots you forgot to pack? #anklesupport
Wedding News:
I’m going to make a separate post solely about all the DIY work I’ve been doing for the elopement/reception so I can tell B not to read it. The dress I’m making (and the matching waistcoat for him) is a secret. Shh.
Here’s a sneak peak of some hand-painted embroidery in progress, though:
Ok, I think that’s all the big stuff. No real recs for you since I simply have not had time to do much reading in the last month.
Anyway, stay safe, eat something tasty, and give your pets some extra love from me! See you on March 14th when I’ll do a yay I have a second book published post :)
